A year after this talk, my Google-sponsored, Futures Lab cohort at UW was challenged to "use AI", meaning "come up with a prototype tool using Gemini Pro to vibe code the demo", to create a learning tool. Without even really directly sourcing from this video - all 4 on my team snapped our focus on to the problem of creating with so-called "AI" accidentally displacing the appropriate and necessary *effort* that is actually what makes learning happen. I'd not consciously realized the connection happened until near the end of our project.

A year and a half ago, I either attended, or watched live from the "holding tank", a talk by Derek Mulller (@veritasium@bird.makeup). I can't remember which, because it was one of those jam-packed Perimeter Institute talks I didn't get at ticket to but went and lined up for anyway but they let the overflow watch on video from the atrium.

Anyway. Been meaning to re-watch this particular talk and past damn time I got to it. Absolutely essential learning on the nexus of AI and education.

Hey mony.world/Harmony followers (as I collect a few) - since I fragment all over the place after 9 years on "the Fediverse", I use VocalCat's FediProfile as a "find me wherever I am" profile.

I can see some potential for harmony, plus FediProfile, maybe paring down my digital social clutter a bit. Closer and closer to kicking LinkedIn and Discord to the curb.

Checking out Harmony, which looks to be aiming a kick at Discord's giblets. Personal Discord - but federated? Internal community organization? Private E2EE chat? With file storage? But also a federated timeline?

I'm looking for the fine print, or the massive security hole, or something. However, much appreciation to the early offerings for giving us the chance to check this out. Looks pretty slick so far.
